Social media isn’t something that should just reside in a marketing plan. An increasing number of job seekers are turning to social media to not only connect with the companies or organizations they’re interested in, but they’re also using it as a resource when searching for new job opportunities. As a result, companies can no longer afford to ignore this growing trend and should leverage social media as a low-cost way to recruit, source and connect with interested jobseekers. There are a variety of social media platforms but the big four are LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook and Google Plus.
In the U.S. there are over 100 million registered users on LinkedIn alone, which makes it a key source for recruiting potential talent. LinkedIn company pages help jobseekers learn more about your business, brand, products and services, and currently open positions. Build your network and share your opportunities. Gone are the days when you’re only interacting with active jobseekers. LinkedIn provides numerous resources for small businesses to connect and engage with active and passive candidates alike.
If your practice is already using Twitter to promote news and events, why not post your jobs there too? Utilize popular hashtags such as #careers or #dentaljobs or other industry-related hashtags. It’s a simple, easy way to constantly engage your followers.
By now, most businesses have a Facebook company page that is used to share customer experiences, photos, contests, etc. It’s also a great way for current employees to engage and stay connected while reinforcing the company culture. By taking it a step further and posting available jobs in your feed or even adding a dedicated career tab, you can open up additional avenues for finding your next receptionist or hygienist.
Google Plus
Google Plus is making a strong headway in the social media arena. In fact, Google Plus now boasts over 540 million active users and is currently the third largest social network. Posting information and video content can help jobseekers understand what the position is about and what it might be like to work for your business. Additionally, posting content on Google Plus provides increased organic search engine optimization (SEO), which can potentially drive more traffic to your company’s web and social media sites.
These are just a few, simple ways to leverage some of your existing networks to help you in your quest to bring in the right talent to join your team!
