Valentine’s Day is just around the corner and while most folks will celebrate by passing out chocolates, lollipops, and all manner of sweets, that just wouldn’t be very dentist-like of you now would it? Give the gift your patients expect, nay deserve. Give the gift of take-home oral hygiene by handing out TOOTHBRUSH valentines! These DIY cards are super simple to make, super cute to look at, and a super great way to brand your business. They can be customized with any color, message, and contact information you so desire.
Here are all of the tools and materials you’ll need to complete this project:
- A photo of your team with their fists out. It works best if the fists are in the foreground of the photo, nice and large
- A free online photo editing tool like Canva (that’s what we used!) or PicMonkey
- A printer (or the photo department at your local drugstore)
- A craft knife for cutting the toothbrush slits
- Toothbrushes
It couldn’t be easier to transform a cute group (or solo ?) shot of your team into a valentine that is almost TOOTH cute to handle.
First, use a photo editing tool to enhance your photo with an appropriately festive phrase. We went with “love your smile, valentine!” but “you take my breath away!” was a CLOSE second. After you’re happy with the layout, go ahead and have your photos printed. We ordered 5×7 glossy prints from Walgreens and they were ready to pick up in just one hour.
Next, use your craft knife to cut two small slits into the photo – one just above the top fist, and one just below the bottom fist.
Finally, insert your toothbrush. Valentine’s Day is a bright and fun holiday so we chose brushes in vivid hues to complement these cards. These trusty Patterson adult toothbrushes come in assorted color packs of 72.
Special thanks to Dr. Shana Hughes from The Tooth Booth in Russell Springs, Kentucky, for being such a good sport – part dentists/part models don’t grow on trees, ya know!
Andddd you’re done! As you can see, this craft works well with either vertically or horizontally oriented photos, with a single dentist or with the whole crew, and with the toothbrush in a variety of angles. What we’re getting at is: THERE’S REALLY NO WAY TO MESS IT UP! ?
Here are our friends from Dee for Dentist, straight out of Las Vegas, Nevada. Top marks for perfectly aligned hands – talk about teamwork!
And pictured here is the talented squad from Peach Valley Dental in Atlanta, Georgia. These southern guys and gals know how to have fun, y’all!
Have a happy Valentine’s Day, everyone! Please let us know if you have any questions about this DIY project in the comments section below. And ~pinky swear~ that if you make these (or any!) valentines for your patients this year, you’ll tag us in the photos on Instagram @OffTheCusp.
XOXO, Patterson Dental
Such a cute idea! Wish I’d had it a week ago. The day before Valentine’s Day is a little short on time to make this happen.
Hi Lea, thanks for reading and glad you love the idea ? We were able to crank these cuties out in a day, but we weren’t also simultaneously being dental professionals 😉 If you can’t wait until next Valentine’s Day, this idea could totally be used for other occasions as well, like patient birthdays, patient appreciation, etc!
