The relationships we form with our customers and local communities across the nation have been one of my favorite things about working at Patterson for so many years. I have been honored to work with some truly amazing individuals and organizations. One organization that never ceases to amaze me is Christina’s Smile.
Christina’s Smile delivers dental care to disadvantaged children using two mobile dental clinics (one is 53 feet long and one is 48 feet long) that follow the PGA TOUR and Champions Tour. The clinics operate for three days during a tournament week and see about 120 children per session. Since Dr. Richard R. Garza created Christina’s Smile in 1989, they have delivered quality dental care to over 43,000 children between the ages of 6 and 15. These children have been able to receive dental treatment including routine
cleanings, fluoride treatments, sealants, restorations, root canals, crowns and extractions.
We all know how important quality dental care is, especially to children. With more and more of the U.S. population living in poverty and the rising costs of health care, many can no longer afford necessary treatments. During each session, nearly $100,000 worth of dentistry is performed absolutely free to the child’s family. The care each child receives comes from local dentists and assistants who have donated their time. The supplies needed for each treatment, as well as the mobile dental clinics themselves, have been donated through several organizations. If you’d like to get involved or are just looking for more information, I invite you to visit www.csmile.com.
