This is a very special and joyous time of year and almost everyone is filled with the holiday spirit. However, finding that holiday spirit can be a little difficult sometimes. The holidays can be especially difficult for those who don’t have an opportunity to spend it with friends or family or for those who can’t afford to make the holidays special for their loved ones.
For the past 18 years, the Patterson Corporate Office has been working with an organization called Neighbors, Inc. to bring some holiday cheer and help to people who would not receive services anywhere else. Through Neighbors Inc., Patterson has had the ability to adopt families and seniors from the area surrounding our Corporate Office and help make their holidays special.
Families, seniors and those with disabilities often reach out to Neighbors, Inc. for a little extra help. Their requests are very minimal and are typically for very practical necessities. However, the individuals or departments who adopt a family or senior always do more than was asked. Our employees understand the holiday season isn’t about them, but about what they can do for others and making this a special time for someone else.
Many of the Patterson employees who participate in this program also get their whole families involved. Our children love to help pick out presents for other little boys and girls who don’t get the same opportunities they do. Our employees also take the opportunity to teach our kids to hold firm to those most basic values that we cherish, knowing that life’s greatest rewards are found not in what we possess but in what we may give to others.
